Chardonnay may not be a prominent grape variety in Paso Robles, but it nevertheless excels at our estate Margarita Vineyard. As the southernmost vineyard in the Paso Robles region, Margarita Vineyard is located 14 miles from the ocean and just over the hill from the Edna Valley, which is known as one of California’s premier Chardonnay appellations. The 2016 Chardonnay comes specifically from Block 26, one of Margarita Vineyard’s coolest spots. The result is something you might not expect—a deliciously authentic Chardonnay with Paso Robles on the label.

Food Pairing Notes
This full-bodied Chardonnay is a fine match for creamy chicken pasta, lemon-butter scallops, broiled lobster tails, and poached salmon.
Tasting Notes
The 2016 Chardonnay is loaded with aromas of white peach, lemon cream, butterscotch, vanilla and caramel. A luscious, viscous texture unfolds with rich flavors of pear, pineapple, sweet oak and spice. A thread of delicate acidity is interwoven across the palate, adding length to a smooth, integrated finish.
Production Notes
The 2016 Chardonnay from our small-lot Pearl Collection program is designed to be a showstopper. To make this wine, we chose a special selection of fruit from Block 26, which occupies one of the coolest locations at our estate Margarita Vineyard. After gentle pressing, the wine was fermented in French oak barrels—including 30 percent new oak—to cultivate depth and roundness on the palate. This is a bold yet balanced Chardonnay that you will want to share with friends at the dinner table.
